RESUMO

Objetivo Evaluar la efectividad de la rehabilitación, resaltando el papel de la terapia ocupacional en personas con esclerosis múltiple, en términos de fatiga, discapacidad y calidad de vida. Materiales y métodos Se realizó una búsqueda bibliográfica en las bases de datos BVS, Cochrane, OT-Seeker, PubMed y PEDro. Criterios de inclusión: ensayos clínicos controlados publicados entre enero del 2011 y abril del 2019 en español o inglés con una puntuación ≥ 5 en la escala PEDro, cuyo fin era la rehabilitación mediante el uso de productos de apoyo, entrenamiento de habilidades, rehabilitación vestibular, modificación del comportamiento, educación terapéutica o intervenciones específicas de terapia ocupacional. Resultados Se incluyeron 16 estudios (1.279 sujetos). La rehabilitación mejoró la fatiga, la discapacidad y, discretamente, la calidad de vida. Conclusiones La rehabilitación puede aportar beneficios en el desempeño de personas con esclerosis múltiple, reduciendo la fatiga percibida y la discapacidad. Limitaciones: heterogeneidad de la muestra, tipo y duración de las intervenciones y variabilidad de instrumentos de medida de resultados (AU)

Inclusion criteria: Controlled clinical trials published between January 2011 and April 2019 in Spanish or English with a score of ≥5 on the PEDro scale whose purpose was rehabilitation through the use of assistive technology, skills training, vestibular rehabilitation, behaviour modification, therapeutic education or specific Occupational Therapy interventions. Results A total of 16 studies (1,279 subjects) were included. Rehabilitation improved patients’ fatigue and disability and slightly enhanced their quality of life. Conclusions Rehabilitation can provide benefits to the performance of people with multiple sclerosis by reducing their perceived fatigue and disability. Limitations: The heterogeneity of the sample, the type and duration of the interventions and variability of the instruments for measuring results (AU)
